bearing witness

“Most things break instead of transform because they resist. The quiet miracle of love is that without our interference, it, like water, accepts whatever is tossed or dropped, or placed into it, embracing it completely.”~ Mark Nepo (Book of Awakening)

(((((((((((((((((( O )))))))))))))))))) This is what a rock looks like dropped into water. The initial plunge creating ripples, ever-widening their hugs until distant shores are reached. Such is the impact of one small stone, yet without a witness its passing may go unnoticed.

Bearing witness is perhaps the greatest gift that I was able to give Scott. This blog made all of our readers witnesses, too, amplifying the ripples to many shores. Some of you have wanted to stay and be my witnesses now as I navigate the waters of grief, trying to find my balance and regain my sense of self. Others have avoided me for fear that something horrible might rub off on them. Losing your mate is a club nobody volunteers for and nobody wants to belong to. I won’t let it define me. I won’t let it defeat me.

    • Dan- thanks for always giving feedback. Scott sent me two butterflies dancing in tandem and spiraling up to the sky before my very eyes today. My friend was visiting and had her eyes closed…only I saw the display. These messages validate and confirm: life is art. Be well, K

  2. Katy,

You have shown many the reality of loving someone to the very end. How you have also shared so not only which honesty but grace. I believe that the love and utter selflessness you gave will return to you as you navigate. My wish for you is continued peace and comfort and loads of butterfly’s.

    (((Hugs))).
