Much to my delight, this morning I discovered that my milkweed bush has– not one, but five–Monarch butterfly caterpillars chomping away on it. Each tiger striped caterpillar has selected its own stalk of milkweed. How do they know to do that? Since I have four siblings, I’ve decided to name these beings after us (Ed, Carl, Roy, Katy, Matt). I can only hope that all five of “us” make it to the transformation into gorgeous Monarch butterflies.
