I was so very pleased to donate this Donald Lipski sculpture to the Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro before I left High Point this week. Donald verified for me that this was his work from a residency he did in Italy in 2002. Scott and Donald were good friends. Scott and I knew that the ‘Spoon had one of Donald’s pieces already as we’d seen it on display when we first moved to NC. Over the past three years, I have also gifted works by Canadian artist Simon Hughes, Charles M. Ware, and California’s notable William T. Wiley to this carefully curated museum’s permanent collection. We always felt it was a true gem under the direction of Nancy Doll (whom Scott knew when she was the director of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, too). That I could contribute to their collection from ours has been so satisfying. I am delighted to keep Scott’s art legacy alive both as an artist and as a collector.
