Two-Michelin-starred Chef Ryan McCaskey, of Acadia Restaurant in Chicago, opened his casual outpost in Stonington, Maine Acadia House Provisions Monday night. Bravo, Chef Ryan!

Ryan has retained the downeast island ambiance while totally transforming the space that has served at least 3 other restaurants before his. A four panel painting of mine, The Penobscot Expedition Map , adorns the lounge area wall. Three more Katy Allgeyer originals grace the venue. Acadia House Provisions’ lounge area is a cozy spot to sip a Grateful Dead-themed cocktail (turns out Ryan is a Dead Head) such as the China Cat Sunflower or the Casey Jones or the Friend of the Devil. I’ve dined inside and on the harbor deck and loved my experience at both. However, I must say I’m partial to the indoor seating where there are mojitos rather than mosquitos. And some mighty fine art on the walls… 🙂

What the dickens is The Penobscot Expedition, you say? It’s a bit of our American Revolutionary War history that happened in the area I live in here in Maine in July 1979. Here you go:
