aftershocks

Three years ago tomorrow we got the bad news.
I share with you a brief excerpt from the prologue to the first draft of the book I am writing about the trip of a lifetime.

PROLOGUE

In the end, the mountains of imagination were nothing but a house.
And this grand life of mine was nothing but an excuse.
You’ve been hearing my story so patiently for a lifetime.
Now hear this: it was nothing but a fairy tale.
~ RUMI Thief of Sleep as translated by Shahram Shiva

  1. Katy, your writing is wonderful, incredibly honest and heartbreaking at the same time. The love, laughter and your life together shared together is going to be a wonderful story to read, and I am glad that you and Scott chose to share. Much love and hugs to you through for what I imagine is going to be very tough but I hope you find lots of strength to keep on going. Take care x

    • Hi Vicki, Thanks for still reading and giving feedback. I’m still trying to figure out the message and the tone of the book. If this seems too ominous I believe the hope and posscottivity will balance it out and emerge by the end of the book. 🙂 Katy

  2. Beautiful, Katy. A wonderful metaphor to begin your story.

High Point is coming and I will always think of Scott in that place.

    • Hi Nancy,

Thank you for your kind words. I am not going to be back for market this time around so I won’t get a chance to see you and Bob. Will look forward to the spring market and perhaps my first draft will be ready by then. You’d make a great sounding board for the rough draft!
