This week at High Point International Furniture Market, the nonprofit fund board of directors of the Scott Morgan Design Scholarship revealed the winners of their 2019 award scholarships. First place $5000 prize goes to Savannah College of Art and Design student Quinten Juan Sanchez. Congratulations to Quinten!
Quinten has a website currently under development where his designs will be showcased (https://quintensanchez.com). Here are a few of his beautiful furniture designs:
The one below is an overhead shot of the gorgeous organic sofa set shown in the photo above. I love how the wooden dowels are utilized as “studding” at the top of the arm.
The Scott Morgan Design Scholarship is generously funded by industry leaders such as Scott’s dad Jerry Morgan (formerly partner at Ello), BDI, American Leather, Steve Feldman & Associates, Stanley J . Friedman, and Joel Morgenstern. It’s simply wonderful that so many of Scott’s colleagues, family, and friends have supported this legacy to keep Scott’s memory alive. Scott loved being a mentor to designers and I’m sure he is pleased with this year’s young design award recipients Quinten Sanchez and runner up Hannah Fink. (<<Click to see Hannah’s work). They represent the future of #design in America and we are proud of both of them.
How wonderful….!!!
